Am Donaudurchbruch bei
Weltenburg
steht das gleichnamige Kloster,
das weniger wegen seiner Bauwerke
berühmt ist, als wegen seiner herrlichen
Lage am Donaudurchbruch. Als
Radfahrer auf dem
Donauradweg macht man
hier eine Pause und legt eine kurze
Strecke bis Kehlheim auf einem der
Ausflugsschiffe zurück.
Sights in Germany -
Weltenburg Abbey is located right at the Danube
water gap. The
abbey is considered to be the oldest in Bavaria. The Baroque
buildings
were built by the
Asam brothers between 1716 and 1739. It is the
unique location
right at the water and the impressive landscape around it,
that make a
visit in Weltenburg unforgettable. When going along the
Danube by bicycle
one can have a rest at the monastery and then take
a boat through the
gorge to
Kehlheim.
