In der Stuppacher Dorfkirche befindet sich das Bild von Matthias Grunewald
aus dem Jahr 1517. Ursprünglich war es für die Stiftskirche in Aschaffenburg
gemalt worden. Das Bild wurde 1809 in Bad Mergentheim bei der Auflösung
des Deutschordensschlosses entdeckt und 1812 anden Pfarrer der Stuppacher
Dorfkirche verkauft.

Sights in Germany - The Stuppach Madonna is a painting by Matthias
Grunewald from 1517. It is hanging in the village church of Stuppach. Originally
it had been painted for the collegiate church St.Peter und Alexander in
Aschaffenburg. The picture was found in Bad Mergentheim in 1803 when the
Palace of the Teutonic Order was given up and it got sold to the pastor of the
Stuppach village church.
